You might have heard some cliche terms such as, “Stress is bad for health” and “stress is not good for your health” but is Stress actually bad?

What is stress? Stress means physiological disturbance or damage caused to an organism by adverse circumstances.

There are some surprising facts about stress. To all the students, office workers, and people who are stressed, this blog is very important for you! Read more about it.

Extreme stress could cause psychosomatic symptoms and therefore cause physiological illness. What does physiological illness mean? It is a stress-related physical illness. For example, hypertension and some headaches. Extreme stress is hazardous for anyone.

Stress can weaken our immune system. The stress hormone Corticosteroid can decrease the effectiveness of the immune system in which the number of T. Lymphocytes are reduced. T. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cells that are formed to attack viruses, foreign substances, and cancer cells.

Especially during COVID-19, a weakened immune system is likely to make someone more susceptible to respiratory viruses.

Correlation between Stress and HIV/AIDS.

Stress and negative emotions can speed the transition from HIV infection to AIDS in someone already infected.

Stress correlation with heart disease

Excessive amount of stress can lead to Coronary heart disease. Coronary Heart Disease is introduced when someone’s coronary arteries can get too narrow. And those arteries supply blood and oxygen to the heart. This can also result into an heart attack since extreme inflammation leads to high blood pressure and lower good Cholesterol needed for our body.

Chronic stressors can cause excessive inflammation.

Treatment

People who are stressed all the time need to meditate. There are many videos on how to make meditation more fun. You can check out Headspace which is available on Netflix. You can also exercise, follow strict diet consumption, and change your perception of thinking towards some events. For example, when you are stressed about a certain event and you can’t stop stressing, you can do your favorite thing to do at that time. Now, these might be quick treatments for short-term stress but for prolonged amount of time, you should contact your doctor and talk freely about this issue. Since extreme stress for long time will make your susceptible to diseases, and viruses.

Conclusion

In the end, stress for prolonged period of time can lead to illness, cardiovascular disease, and also can lead to short life expectancy. Although short-term stress motivates us and also arouses us which will lead to increased productivity but stress for a long time is not good for our physical and mental health.
