About Us

Our motto: Learn, write, and educate

Medical Blogs was born on November 28, 2020. During 2020, I contemplated a lot about what career I intended to set my eyes on for the rest of my life. While I haven't found a singular passion or profession that I aim to continue for the rest of my life, I knew that helping others in their vulnerable time was one of them. Especially during a global pandemic, witnessing public panic and the misinformation effect in full swing about COVID-19 pushed me to start this website. In addition, one of my family members has Bipolar disorder but I never fully learned about how it physically and psychologically affected them. Due to societal stigma around mental health diseases and my ignorance, I was never able to lend a helping hand to my family members. Truly, if I knew, I could have better eased their pain and anxiety with some knowledge about their disease. Medical Blogs is a learning ground for everyone. From writers, and readers to Instagram users, it's a place where everyone can gain knowledge about a health condition. As a current health professional care aspirant, I see Medical Blogs as an opportunity. With my growing interest in healthcare, I found no other way to gain medical experience during the pandemic when clinical shadowing, and on-site volunteering at health camps and hospitals were closed. As a high school student, this was the only way through which I could learn about health conditions I might learn about in the future. Further, a quote by Robert Boyce states that "[k]nowledge is power. Knowledge shared is power multiplied." So, to spread my learning about diseases such as Bipolar disorder, I took the initiative to fill my knowledge in a concise blog. This kickstarted the Medical Blogs organization. As people applied to become Medical Blogs team members from different corners of the world, I was amazed at how this organization has a globally unifying mission. Someone experiencing a disease or disorder is so common. However, not a lot of people know why those diseases were caused or are currently treated. This organization seeks to empower others to join the Medical field and bring their perspective and impact to this field. If we need to find the next cure for Cancer or Type 2 Diabetes, we need more people who are interested in health care to contribute to research. Medical Blogs is an open platform for anyone passionate about learning about medicine.
